What is Timing Belt?

Timing or toothed or cog belt is a rubberized (rubber composite & polyurethane) material belt with teeth or teeth on the inner side and also outsides. Toothed or Timing Belts are used to transfer and transmit power from one machinery part to another one. As per teeth on belts, there are more than a hundred different types of timing belts. Hundreds even Thousands of machinery & engines use timing belts because of their good performance. Some timing belts are made with steel wires like Gates GT2 Timing Belt, Opti T10 & Brecoflex T5.

Birth of Timing or Toothed Belt

Bill Devin American racing driver, entrepreneur & Devin Enterprises founder used the first timing belt in 1945. He build a custom car engine with Norton Manx cylinders & heads & a toothed belt driving the camshaft of each Norton Cylinder head.

Make of Timing or Toothed Belt

Companies design this belt with high tensile Kevlar / Twaron or fibers to maintain rpm and transmit proper energy from the driving shaft to the drive shaft. These threads are molded in a pre-designed die to make the right tooth height, thickness, design, and strength. Belts are manufactured with Natural rubber, PU & Neoprene.
