The hospital staff gave an Honor Walk to Anne, lining the halls leading to the operating room to pay gratitude to her for donating her organs.

On Friday, Heche’s eldest son, Homer, released a statement on behalf of himself and his half-brother, Atlas, stating, “My brother Atlas and I lost our mom after six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings. I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom. Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me. I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time. Rest in peace Mom, I love you.”

What Exactly Happened on the Day of Accident?

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that a blue Mini Cooper collided with a house on the 1700 block of Walgrove in Los Angeles around 11 a.m. PT on August 5 at the speed of 160 km/ hr. The vehicle went 30 feet into the two-story home, which was announced unsafe to enter after fire extinguishment.

An eyewitness reported the incident and explained the initial moments after the crash. The caller told the 911 responder, “[Someone is] trapped in the front door [of the car]. Inside the car. Whoever was driving. Get somebody real quick.”

During the call, the 911 operator could hear someone in the background shouting about a fire. The paramedics and ambulance reached the crash site almost six minutes after the call.

The intensity of the fire can be understood by the fact that it took 59 firefighters over an hour to control the fire.

According to the LAFD, only one woman was at the crash spot, in the backyard, at the time of the crash. As she was away from the front, she received no major injuries except cuts, but mental trauma because of this incident.

She mentioned, “It’s obviously been the most insane, traumatic time, confusing … eventually I’ll try to get back to everybody and try to read everybody’s comments. Thank you everybody from the bottom of my heart. It’s really, truly overwhelming. You guys really have impacted my life in a really profound way so thank you so much to everybody and I will keep you updated.”

As Mishele’s house was burnt due to the accident, her neighbors set up a GoFundMe to help her renovate and furnish her house. The campaign helped her raise over $160,000.

Did Anne Heche Take Drugs Before the Accident?

The Los Angeles Police Department mentioned that a blood draw showed narcotics in Anne’s blood after the crash. The reports did not show any traces of alcohol either, which shows she was not drunk before the accident. However, the alcohol might have gone through her system until the test was conducted. LAPD carried out further tests to identify drugs other than those administered by the hospital.

Traces of cannabinoids were found in the urine and not in the blood, indicating that she might have taken cannabis previously but not at the time of the accident.
