How to Improve Your Focus at Work

A Udemy study shows that approximately 70% of workers feel distracted while they’re at work. That’s almost three-fourths of workers who struggle to focus.

Do you struggle with this problem? Wondering how to improve your focus at work? Then you’re reading the right article. Here are some tips for how to stay focused at work.

Refrain From Multitasking

At times, you may be forced to multitask. However, when possible, you should refrain from doing so. The problem with multitasking is that it prevents you from ever truly dedicating your attention to a single task.

When you’re switching tasks every 30 seconds, your mind is constantly drifting. Every time you tend to the other task, you have to essentially start your thought processes over from scratch. This puts a tremendous amount of strain on the brain and thus makes it more difficult to focus.

Instead, you should focus diligently on a single task, finish it, and then move on to the next.

Take Breaks

Another tip to reduce brain fog and improve focus is to take breaks. Don’t sit down for long periods of time and try to hammer your way through work. Take stand-up breaks intermittently and give your mind a rest every once in a while.

We suggest doing this every 30 minutes or so for 2 to 5 minutes at a time. When taking your breaks, disconnect your mind from the task entirely. Then, when your break is over, go full-bore at the task until the start of your next break.

This enables you to compound your focus. It’s like running several sprints as opposed to one long marathon.

Turn Off Your Notifications

You likely have your phone sitting next to you. Odds are, random notifications are going off every few minutes. Naturally, these are going to distract you.

The solution? Shut those notifications off while you’re at work. Whether it’s text notifications, social media notifications, restaurant app notifications, or otherwise, shut them off during work hours.

Eliminating these distractions will enable your brain to focus on the task at hand. It will allow you to maintain your line of thought, and thus be as productive as possible.

Use Brain Supplements

One last tip to help you focus on work is to take brain supplements. These supplements contain substances that are designed to rev up the systems of the brain. They reduce mental fog and improve mental clarity, thereby allowing you to focus.

There are a number of these supplements available. Some of the most popular these days include ashwagandha, astaxanthin, L-theanine, Rhodiola rosea, and Brahmi. You can learn more about each of these by clicking this.

And That’s How to Improve Your Focus at Work

Can’t focus on work? The four tips discussed above can make a world of difference for you. So, take breaks, silence your notifications, consider supplements, and keep multitasking to a minimum; that’s how to improve your focus and be more productive throughout the day.
