Soon he made friends with RZA and Ghostface Killah. U-God started his career by rhyming under the alias named Golden Arms. He changed his name to U-God later.

Now let’s talk about Universal God’s career. U-God recorded the beginning rhyme of the song “Da Mystery of Chessboxin” by Wu-Tang Clan at the beginning of his career. U-God made a little contribution in his first album, but he was highlighted in the second group, Wu-Tang Forever. Wu-Tang Forever was certified as four times platinum. He is also known for other tracks like Winter Warz, Knuckleheads, Investigative Reports, and Black Jesus. He was the only member in his group with a solo track, “Black Shampoo.”

U-God released ‘Golden Arms Redemptions’ on Priority Records in 1999. After releasing this album, he became the eighth member of the group to release a solo album. His two singles from this album called ‘Dat’s Gangsta’ and ‘Bizarre’ gained immense popularity. Bizarre ranked no. 7 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles Chart. One of his singles from the album ‘Rumble’ featured as the main song on the video game, “Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style.” After his rising success, U-God created his own label and named it ‘Suppa Nigga Productions.’ Later, the singer’s second album, “Mr. Xcitement,” was released in 2005.

In 2009, Hawkins released another album named “Dopium.” He had led the single ‘Wu-Tang’ in which Method Man featured. Some guest appearances like Ghost face Killah, GZA, Cappadonna, Killah Priest, Method Man, Raekwon, Jim Jones, Scotty Wotty, and Sheek Louch added to the popularity of this album.

On 23rd July 2013, RZA’s Soul Temple Records released U-God’s album “The Keynote Speaker.” It featured Kool Keith, Method Man, RZA, Styles P, GZA, and Inspectah Deck as guest appearances. U-God released a song called ‘Venom’ on Babygrande Records and SoundCloud. On 25th September 2017, U-God announced his autobiography on Twitter. He tweeted that he has completed his autobiography titled “Raw: My Journey into The Wu-Tang.”

With the help of the DatPiff platform, U-God released a free mixtape entitled ‘Bring Back God II’ on 2nd February 2018. Later, his song “Venom” was released on 30th March 2018. It ranked at no.34 on the U.S. Rap Album Charts. U-God has collaborated with several artists, including members of the Wu-Tang Clan and others like Cappadonna, Masta Killa, Blondie, Mobb Deep, Cyber Hill, and more.
