On 30 November 2016, Young was not allowed to play games for two to four weeks because of his strained right calf muscle. However, he made his comeback and made a remarkable eight three-pointers with a great loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. On 2 April 2017, the Lakers benched Young for their remaining games of the season 2017-2018. After this, Young became an unrestricted free agent on 21 June 2017.

Later, on 7 July 2017, Young signed with the Golden State Warriors. He played his debut game for the Warriors on 17 October 2017 and impressed the crowd by hitting six 3-pointers. Young scored 23 points in this game, which resulted in a 122-121 loss to the Houston Rockets. He also helped the Warriors enter the 2018 NBA Finals.
