The same year, in July 2016, East participated in the freshmen cipher hosted by DJ Drama. He released a joint EP, “Born Broke, Die Rich,” with rapper Kur in August 2016. His EP “Paranoia: A True Story” was released in August 2017, followed by singles like Perfect. “Paranoia: A True Story” peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200. This mixtape featured numerous names like Lil Durk, Gunna, and BlocBoy. Pryx featured East in the hit single “Is U Down” and later appeared as a guest vocalist in DJ Shadow’s video. Despite not receiving the same response as other albums, it peaked at #41 on the Billboard 200. East released his fifteenth mixtape, “Beloved,” in 2018, featuring Styles P.

East later announced his single “Alone” featuring Jacquees to support his upcoming debut album release. He released the album “Survival” in November 2019 through Mass Appeal Records, Jam Recordings, and his own record label, From the Dirt. The album was star-studded with guest appearances from Lil Baby, Teyana Taylor, Nas, Rick Ross, and The Dream. Dave East went on a world tour to promote his album “Survival Tour” in November and December 2019.

He announced “Karma 3” in March 2020; the cover featured images of East with Nipsey Hussle and Pop Smoke. This album was also released under the label Def Jam and Mass Appeal. The mixtape “Really Wit Me” lead single got out in March 2022, starring various artists in cameo appearances. It gained attention from critics globally, leading to the release of a deluxe version on October 23, 2020.
